Description
Basket weave design 18k gold cigarette box
Continental, Early 20th Century
Height 1.5cm, width 9cm, depth 6.5cm
This elegant cigarette box is beautifully made from 18k gold. The box opens with a push of the smooth button positioned at the front of the piece. All surfaces are shaped to resemble a basket weave and the intricate detailing on each strand is similar in texture to a rope. The exceptional attention to detail demonstrated by the maker, makes the appearance of the rope-shaped lines very realistic, simultaneously presenting this piece as a very rare example.
Once opened, the inside of the cigarette box reveals the basket weave design, with a smooth finish.
The box is marked ‘750’, alongside other makers’ marks, and weights 118g. -
