Description
Basket making is an ancient and humble craft, but in the hands of a skilled weaver a simple willow basket can become a truly beautiful work of art. This bent handle basket was made in China long ago, and the artisan’s mastery is evident: the strong, flexible willow strips are skillfully intertwined into a delicate pattern. The wider bands of the handle add presence and strength to the intricate patterning represented in the weave. This particular example is further decorated with fabric reinforcements and painted characters along the arched handle. We love it for firewood, toys, wastepaper or anything you want stored beautifully.
