Description
ALFREDO PINA
French, 1883-1966
Bust of a Young Man
Lost-wax cast medium-brown patinated bronze over solid verde marble plinth | signed in cast "A. Pina" and sealed with cachet "cire perdue Paris"
Item # 301MXO27P An exquisite casting of Alfredo Pina's "Bust of a Young Man" from the Art Deco period circa the 1930s, it features a raw surface that captures the handled and shaped surface so tangibly that the sculptor's fingers on the surface can almost be felt. The signature is sharp with the upraised edges from where Pina's stylus moved the material in the original mold and has been rendered perfectly in the bronze. It is finished in a medium-brown surface patina with coppery undertones and is situated over an original solid block of verde marble.
