Bust of John the Baptist as Child in the manner of Karl Storck

Description
Small bust of St. John the Baptist made of marble or alabaster with the head tilted slightly to the left. A similar version, signed and dated Storck 1870, can be found in the Frederic and Cecilia Cuțescu-Storck Art Museum, which exhibits works by the Storck family of artists. Karl Storck, originally from Hanau, Germany, relocated to Bucharest in 1849, where he established himself permanently. Serving as a professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts from 1865, Storck played a pivotal role in shaping modern Romanian sculpture. (Germany, 1826-1887), Late 19th Century
