Description
Chinese rose quartz, agate, and nephrite flower model in a cloisonné enamel pot
Chinese, 20th Century
Height 43cm, width 74cm, depth 27cm
This stunning flower model showcases the skills of Chinese craftsmen in the 20th century, bringing together the complex techniques of hardstone carving and cloisonné enamelling.
The tree model sits within a cloisonné enamel planter, that employs an eye-catching blue ground. The entire surface is decorated with swirling forms, interspersed with flowers and leaves that mirror the model above. The outer edge of the rim is gilded.
Within the planter sits a resin-treated metal trunk, from which thread-wrapped metal branches extend. The branches are capped with a mix of agate and rose quartz flowers, centred by bright yellow beaded stigmas, as well as sweet red berries. Amongst the flowers are carved nephrite leaves, which beautifully contrast the pastel shades of the petals.
Combining a host of different precious stones, this large flower model is a true objet d’art. - More Information
