Description
Claude Conover vase, "Toluca", ceramic, signed. Large hand built incised stoneware vase, glazed in subtle two tone and finely decorated with Conover's signature hatching and scratching patterns. Signed on underside and titled "Toluca".
As a member of the Cleveland School, Conover (1907-1994), worked for 30 years as a commercial designer before turning to ceramics full time in the 1960s.
