Description
Collection of rock specimens
Continental, 20th Century
Smallest: Height 2cm, width 25cm, depth 21cm
Largest: Height 1cm, width 38cm, depth 26cm
This superb collection of rock specimens includes two agate slabs in addition to a petrified wood slab.
The largest and medium-sized slabs are of two types of agate. Blue agate is masterfully cut to reveal its intricate, nature-formed patterns. The concentric round blue and brown shapes create a visually pleasing design. The second agate slab features a more paired-down design, with a complex cream centre formed from numerous geometrical shapes surrounded by a greyish sea of effortless lines.
The smallest slab is of petrified wood, a type of fossil. This unusual piece is expertly created by nature and forms when minerals are introduced into the cavities between and within cells of wood. Coloured in shades of brown and cream, at first glance, the slab appears like a piece of wood however after closer inspection one starts to notice fossil properties.
All rock specimens are believed to carry important spiritual properties. For example, petrified wood is a stone of transformation while agate carries calming energy.
Celebrating nature’s capabilities, this collection can be displayed alone or together with other decorative objects. -
