Countertop Haberdashery Mannequin

$ 18,500
  • Description
    Countertop Haberdashery Mannequin

    American, last quarter of the 19th c.
    Carved maple (by micro analysis)
    Over-all in excellent condition, retaining an old varnish finish, naturally oxidized.
    Provenance: From a prominent Private Collection, New York; The Folk Art Collection of Brendan and Ken Fritz, Skinner, Boston, Massachusetts, Feb. 2001, Lot 60; Harris Diamant, New York, New York.
    This distinguished-looking man was used as a small-scale free-standing Countertop Haberdashery Mannequin. The maple figure has an intricately carved head and articulated arms with well defined hands. The body has less detail to the carving and would have presumably been clothed. The gold painted cane and black high-button boots embellished with brass tacks are also finely carved, as they would have been exposed.

    31 ½” h., 8 ½” w., 8” d.
