Cubist Primitive Sculpture of Mother with Child in Translucent Glass & Blackened
-
Description
This sophisticated modernist sculpture- depicting mother and child- was realized in the United States during the latter half of the 20th Century. It offers a timeless leitmotif stretching far past christianity to the advent of mankind. The sculpture presented in an open blackened steel frame and secured with cylindrical supports (in the same material) offers a totemic chiseled form in translucent glass. This solid clear glass amorphic sculpture presents a primitive and stylized interpretation of a mother swaddling her child- their features are reduced to their most elemental forms, verging on abstraction. With its austere lines and beautiful craftsmanship, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of modern art as well as those with a penchant for unusual (and striking objects). This piece is in excellent vintage condition.
