Introducing a captivating set of two Modernist low bowls, designed by Lee Rosen for Design Technics in the spirited 1960s. These vide poche, or catchall bowls, are a sublime blend of function and aesthetic delight, embodying the essence of mid-century modern design.
Crafted with exquisite attention to detail, each bowl is a piece of slip-cast ceramic pottery, finished with a rich cerulean blue gloss glaze that speaks to the vibrancy of the era. The inner surface of the bowls beckons with its glossy sheen, a perfect holder for your cherished trinkets and treasures.
The bowls are defined by their striking contrasted rims, left unglazed in a sgraffito textured brown, creating a juxtaposition that is both tactile and visually striking. This contrast not only adds depth to the design but also serves as a testament to Rosen's mastery in playing with color, sheen, and texture to evoke a sense of balance and intrigue.
The underside of each bowl is deliberately unfinished, featuring the "DT" cipher of Design Technics, a mark of authenticity and craftsmanship. This thoughtful design element ensures that the bowls’ aesthetic appeal is maintained from every angle.
The dimensions of the bowls are thoughtfully proportioned, with the larger bowl measuring 9 inches in diameter and 1.75 inches in height, and the smaller bowl at 6.75 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches in height. Their size makes them versatile for various uses, be it as elegant key holders by the entrance, jewelry organizers on a dresser, or as standalone decorative objects that catch the light and the eye.
Embrace the allure of mid-century modern design with these Lee Rosen bowls, a pair that will add a touch of historical elegance and modernist flair to any contemporary home. -
