Description
A fine last quarter 19th century Samson porcelain vase of covered baluster form painted in Japanese Edo Imari style, the original lid with foo dog finial and body having white ground with gilt and polychrome under and overglaze enamel floral decoration.
The French ceramics firm of ‘Samson, Edmé et Cie' was founded in Paris in 1845 and produced high quality copies of rare and important Japanese, Chinese, and European porcelain wares. -

A fine example with very minor gilt wear and a near invisible glaze hairline at neck that cannot be felt and does not extend in to the body.
