The base is mounted with a bronze plaque that features a quote from Pascal’s Pensées, which reads, in French, “L'HOMME EST VISIBLEMENT FAIT POUR PENSER; C'EST TOUTE SA DIGNITÉ ET TOUT SON MÉRITE”.
