Description
Fernand Grange Art Deco Dinanderie Vase
A rare and exceptional Art Deco dinanderie vase by French master metalworker Fernand Grange, circa 1920, in excellent condition and signed to the base. This refined work in copper features a rich dark patina enhanced by bold gilt geometric motifs. The dynamic circular and linear design reflects the precision, symmetry, and modern elegance that define the finest French Art Deco decorative arts.
Fernand Grange was active in the 1920s and 1930s and is celebrated for his mastery of copper and brass—often hammered, patinated, inlaid with silver, and decorated with striking geometric or nature-inspired motifs. He was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1931 Colonial Exhibition and received a state commission for the 1937 Paris World’s Fair. Comparable to Jean Dunand and Claudius Linossier, Grange’s work is renowned for its technical excellence, inventive design, and sophisticated finish.
This signed example, with its perfect proportions and impeccable surface, is a significant piece for the serious Art Deco collector.
This Fernand Grange dinanderie vase stands as a testament to the height of French Art Deco metalwork. The combination of deeply patinated copper and vivid gilt linework demonstrates Grange’s ability to balance formal precision with artistic flair. His rare signed works are highly prized, as confirmed by impressive auction results:
Signed examples of this caliber seldom appear on the market, making this an important opportunity to acquire a museum-worthy example from one of the most accomplished French dinandiers of the Art Deco era. - More Information
