Description
Franz Hagenauer (1906-1986) was one of Vienna's most important sculptors, a true artist in every sense of the word.
Franz came from a family of sculptors, his father Carl and brother Karl were great sculptors in there own right where they created designs for the Wiener Werkstätte art collective.
This skier is typical of the fluidity of his work, whether a greyhound or a horse they all have a great sense of motion. One of the best features of this skier is the scarf being caught by the wind while the skier is leaping off a mountain. This is one of his best sports sculptures that he designed in 1930, a really charming piece. -
