French Champagne Harvesting Basket
-
Description
A handsome mid-20th-century French Champagne harvesting basket, handwoven from willow and steeped in the rustic traditions of the French wine country. Originating from the Champagne region in the 1940s, this basket was designed for use during the grape harvest, when workers would gather ripe clusters straight from the vine.
Sturdy and sculptural, it features a thickly woven rim, integrated loop handles, and a reinforced body. The red stenciled letters “MBO” on the front denote the vineyard owner or domaine, adding a layer of provenance and charm. The natural patina of the willow—silvery in places from age and use—brings texture and soul to the piece.
Ideal as a functional accent in interiors styled with rustic, French country, or wine cellar flair. Use it for logs, blankets, towels, or even as a bold standalone statement. - More Information
