Description
A Swedish writing desk commode dating to circa 1760, crafted in pine and finished in a richly aged dark paint with exceptional surface character and patina accumulated over centuries. The elegant façade features three long drawers fitted with original brass pulls and period escutcheons, preserving the authenticity and decorative refinement of the piece.
Raised on shaped bracket feet, the commode is softened by a graceful scalloped apron that introduces movement and a distinctly 18th-century Swedish silhouette. The restrained proportions and clean drawer fronts reflect the balance between utility and elegance that defines Scandinavian furniture of this period.
Designed as both storage and a writing surface, this form offers practical versatility for modern use as a desk, commode, or statement chest in a bedroom, study, or living room. The original brass hardware, deep painted finish, and mid-18th century craftsmanship make it a compelling example of Swedish antique furniture with timeless presence.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
