Bronze bust on marble plinth by Georges van der Straeten

This beautiful portrait bust is by the Belgian sculptor Georges van der Straeten. The bust depicts in patinated bronze a young woman, who twists her head to her right and glances her eyes slightly askance. She is wearing a head covering and a light dress. The patinated bronze bust is set atop a veined marble cylindrical plinth, which is raised on a square marble base. The front of the bust features a patinated bronze tied ribbon, which drapes down in front of the plinth.

The back of the bust signed 'G. van der Straeten', is stamped with the foundry seal 'Societe des Bronzes de Paris', and is monogrammed 'CB 1031'.
