Description
Giacomo Benevelli is an italian sculpture born in Reggio Emilia in 1925. He was the son of Anselmo Govi, important italian painter, meaning that art has always been a current trait in their family. He studied Scenography at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Later on, he got interested in sculpture and started to realized many pieces. Thanks to Cesare Poli's frequentation, he met and frequented prominent artists such as Oskar Kokoschka and Jean Arp, from whom he received essential stimuli for his training. In 1957 he made his debut on the art scene by winning the Sabena Prize in Brussels with a sculpture depicting the myth of Icarus.
Here you can see an untitled sculputer realized in 1972, with the original signature engraved on the back of the chromed sculture. It also shows the serial number of production 42/100 with engraved signature. The base is in wood.
Good condition, fully original.
