Description
This exquisite pair of Art Deco solid bronze Corinthian-style candleholders, crafted by the esteemed Gorham Manufacturing Company circa 1925, showcases the perfect fusion of classical design and Art Deco refinement. Drawing inspiration from the ancient Corinthian order, these candleholders reinterpret traditional motifs with bold modernist sensibilities, making them timeless decorative accents.
Each candleholder features a fluted Corinthian column topped with an intricate capital adorned with classical acanthus leaf detailing. The column is mounted on a rectilinear plinth base, a streamlined yet striking foundation that nods to the geometric elegance of the Art Deco movement. The weighty solid bronze construction highlights the level of quality and craftsmanship for which Gorham was renowned, while the patina enhances the rich texture and depth of the metalwork.
The pieces are individually signed by Gorham, attesting to their authenticity and the brand's illustrious history as one of America’s premier metalwork studios. These candleholders are a sophisticated blend of classic architecture and Art Deco design, making them ideal for collectors and anyone seeking to add an element of timeless elegance to a mantlepiece, dining table, or entryway console. Their aesthetic versatility ensures they will complement a variety of interior styles, from traditional to modern. Signed on the undersurface, and in Excellent Vintage Condition.
