circa 1900
This vase is a fine example of Grueby Faience Company’s soft matte green glaze.
The hand-thrown vessel is decorated with a motif of tooled flat pointed leaves with gently rippled edges rising from the foot and terminating at the lip of the flattened shoulder, while alternating between each leaf are thin stems which rise above the shoulder terminating in small buds near the rim of the vase.
This piece of original Grueby pottery is marked on the underside.
