Description
This pair of candlesticks, model L-40, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1960s, exemplifies Scandinavian modern design through its elegant simplicity and thoughtful materiality. Crafted from polished brass, the candlesticks feature a warm, reflective surface that complements the deep green cylindrical glass shades. These glass elements diffuse candlelight softly, creating a gentle and atmospheric glow that enhances the surrounding space.
Jakobsson’s design philosophy is evident in the balance between functionality and refined aesthetics, with the interplay of brass and glass materials producing a warm and inviting ambiance. As a prominent Swedish interior and furniture designer, Hans-Agne Jakobsson gained international recognition for his innovative lighting concepts, especially his expertise in diffused light and material contrasts.
The candlesticks retain their original brass and glass components and show minor wear consistent with age, reflecting their vintage authenticity. Each measures 9 centimeters in diameter and stands 29 centimeters tall, offering a slender and graceful presence suitable for various interior settings.
