Heart in Hand Odd Fellows Lodge Staff
American, late 19th c.
Carved wood, polychrome paint and gilt decorated.
Over-all in excellent condition, minor wear.
Provenance: Collection of Robert Horn.
This ceremonial Heart in Hand staff has survived in remarkable condition. The beautifully carved cuff and elongated fingers is presented on a long, tapered pole. The number “128” on the back of the hand is presumably the lodge number.
