These vases can be counted among the finest Delft blue-and-white wares to have come to light recently. Althou they are not visibly marked, they can be attributed to the Het Jonge Moriaenshooft factory during the period in which it was managed by Jannetge, the widow of Jacob Wemmersz Hoppesteyn, together with her son Rochus. The shape of the vases was only used in their production and the design of the decoration embodies the exceptional style associated with Het Jonge Moriaenshooft.

The baluster bodies painted in deep shade of cobalt blue with delineated ‘zwarte trek’ (outlines in blackish blue) each with three cartouches enclosing floral scenes set against a broad Chinese Ming-style chrysanthemum scroll band, within further bands of Chinese ornaments.

Jannetge Claesdr. van Straten kept producing under the name of her late husband Jacob Wemmersz Hoppesteyn who pasted away in 1671, until her death in 1686.

No restorations, some chips to the rims and some related hairlines.
Both 34cm high.

All delftware are handmade antiques that are mostly hundreds of years old, therefore it is quite normal that they show signs of wear due to use. Characteristic for Dutch Delftware are also the small chips around the edges which are considered signs of authenticity.
