Description
Presenting a gorgeous 20C Selb German Porcelain Bald Eagle Figurine/Sculpture.
Made by Hutschenreuther Selb – L.H.S. Germany, Kunstabteilung circa 1955-60.
The mark identifies the dating of this piece to between 1955 and 1968. It is marked Number “11”.
It features a bald eagle landing on a rocky plinth and it is absolutely beautifully hand-painted. Stunning colors.
It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. One talon has been professionally repaired and is not noticeable.
It is a simply stunning sculpture !!!
Porcelain from Selb adorns tables all over the world and makes collectors’ hearts beat faster. It was, in particular, a triumvirate which brought Selb the title of European capital of porcelain: Hutschenreuther, Rosenthal and Heinrich produced almost half of the German porcelain ware during the boom period of the porcelain industry.
Lorenz Hutschenreuther, son of the founder of the C. M. Hutschenreuther porcelain factory in Hohenberg, set up his own factory at old Ludwigs mill in Selb in 1856. His porcelain production gained in quality and quantity, especially after the installation of an art department directed by Professor Fritz Klee. In 1969, the two Hutschenreuther installations merged to form the Hutschenreuther AG. -
