Midcentury Modernist Lucite Sculpture by Ilya Bolotowsky, "Plastic Column"
-
Description
This vibrant sculpture consisting of two intersecting planes, entitled "Plastic Column" was realized by Ilya Bolotowsky in 1972. Bolotowsky, was a prominent figure in the Abstract Expressionism movement and a contemporary of artists such as Adolph Gottlieb and Mark Rothko. The art of the De Stijl movement, and especially that of Piet Mondrian, represented a significant influence on Bolotowsky's work, as is evident by the near primary palate and austere geometry of this compelling lucite sculpture. Executed in tones of primary and brick red, indigo blue and matte black, this dynamic work will surely brighten any room. It is signed and inscribed at bottom "III/XXV." Edition 3 of 30. Excellent vintage condition.
