Mid-Century Modern Italian Glazed Ceramic Fish Sculpture by Ivo De Santis
-
Description
Italian glazed ceramic fish sculpture by the eccentric ceramics genius Ivo De Santis for his Gli Etruschi pottery (1950 to 1980) in Florence. Unsigned piece.
A friend of Marcello Fantoni (also of Florence), Ivo De Santis' pottery compares favourably with that of Fantoni and Guido Gambone.
Inspired by ancient Etruscan forms, as well as mid-20th century art, particularly abstract expressionism, pop, and color field painting, de Santis combined these influences to produce ceramic works of art that are all his own. -
