Description
Jacques Jarrige
Ceiling wall mount sculpture "Figures" -available-, 2025
Plywood painted white and LED
2.50 x 54 x 30 in
In this luminous set of two wall sculpture, Jacques Jarrige continues his exploration of the vulnerable, searching nature of the human condition. Working intuitively with humble materials such as plywood and light, Jarrige creates forms that feel at once raw and deeply contemplative—gestures made visible, suspended between drawing and sculpture.
The figure, rendered in abstract or semi-abstract line, is roughly human in scale. Its contours are hesitant yet deliberate, repeated yet never the same—like breath, or thought. Cut from a single sheet of plywood and illuminated from behind by LED, the form seems to hover, casting subtle shadows that animate the surrounding space. The light is not simply functional but metaphorical—an inner glow, evoking presence, mystery, and the possibility of transcendence.
Jarrige’s sculptural language, whether in wood or hammered aluminum, always seeks movement and engagement. His kinetic standing figures reflect light in shimmering fragments, while these wall pieces emit a quiet radiance. Together, they encourage the viewer to slow down, to enter into a dialogue with stillness and gesture, and to feel—however briefly—a connection to something larger.
Through simple materials and an unguarded hand, Jarrige opens a window into the act of creation itself: vulnerable, rigorous, and alive with purpose.
The sculptures can be purchased separately and be commissioned to specific dimensions -
