Description
Jean-Baptisite Clesinger (French. 1814-1883): A pair of silvered bronze and rouge marble busts of a Bacchante couple, cast by Marny Hac, 1 Rue de la Paix, Paris. The female bust with ribbon-tied drapery and a sash decorated with roses at her breast, the male figure with a vine leaf headdress and a sash across his body signed "Clesinger", both on a ringed cylindrical socles, the female figure signed on the left side "J. Clesinger Rome 186", both also inscribed "Maison Marny Hac 1". Rue de la Paix, raised in Rouge marble fluted pedestals with a Greek Key border to the top of the gilt bronze mount to the base, on square bases.
