Description
Edwardian inkwell with clock and barometer. Made by John Grinsell & Sons in Birmingham in 1908. Massive clear glass cube with chamfered edges and brilliant-cut underside. Short neck in sterling silver collar; with hinged swing-mounted cover in form of clock in round ribbed frame. On front barometer in same. An end-of-an-era built-to-last desk accessory for the scientific minded. Silver fully marked, including design no. 476070, which was registered in 1906. Very good condition. Clock keeps time, though the condition of the movement is not guaranteed.
