Exceptional Large Japanese Ceramic Moon Vase by Kinkozan Meiji Period

A large Japanese ceramic vase of exceptional quality from late Meiji period circa 1900-10s by Kinkozan (1645-1927). One of the largest studio manufacturers of the export ceramics at the time based in Kyoto. In the typical decorated style of satsuma ware made at the turn of 20th century, the superb vase is of an impressive size in a rounded form of moon jar. The surface was densely decorated with Kinran-de (gold paint) with tour-de-force details, depicting a continuous scene of a large number of characters dressed in flowing kimonos visiting and lingering leisurely in landscaped garden with numerous mountains in the distance including Mount Fuji. The impressive scenery was composed with different places in Japan as a fantasy collage instead of a realistic rendition. Not that nearly all visitors depicted are women and children. The bedazzling designs cover the entire surface in an endless fashion that one can start the viewing from any point. Under the mouth rim, which is heavily gilt and above the base which has the Greek Key border, the artist showcased fantastically arranged flower bouquets. The painstaking details of the workmanship are incredible. The recessed base of the vase is signed in a red seal with gilt Kanji characters Made by Kinkozan. It bears a pressed signature as shown.
This presentation vase is of museum-quality, no doubt made to the highest standard by a master decorator from Kinkozan workshop. What sets it apart are its large size, the meticulously and masterfully surface decoration that circumvent the vase in a endless fashion.
