Description
This late 19th century German porcelain reticulated centerpiece bowl is a remarkable example of European decorative artistry, combining delicate craftsmanship with vibrant, lifelike decoration. The bowl features an intricate openwork (reticulated) design, allowing light to pass through the carefully pierced porcelain, enhancing its elegance and visual appeal. Resting gracefully on four molded feet, the piece is balanced with two sculpted handles, creating a harmonious silhouette that is both functional and decorative.
The bowl is adorned with a colorful floral motif, with hand-painted blossoms that extend outward from the main body of the piece, giving it a three-dimensional quality. The carefully applied flowers and bolted decorative accents highlight the attention to detail and technical skill of late 19th century German porcelain makers. Each element, from the openwork pattern to the raised floral embellishments, reflects the artistry and sophistication of the period.
In good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. Measuring approximately 6 inches in diameter and 9 inches high, this centerpiece bowl makes an elegant display for a dining table, sideboard, or mantel. Ideal for collectors of European porcelain or anyone looking to add a vibrant, historic decorative accent to their home, its combination of sculptural form, colorful decoration, and fine craftsmanship ensures it remains a standout piece in any setting. -
