Description
A remarkable English Regency style extension dining table, crafted in England during the early to mid-19th century, showcasing the elegance and refined proportions characteristic of the period. The table is constructed in rich mahogany, accented with delicate fruitwood inlaid banding that highlights the rectangular top with gracefully rounded corners. The inlay is finely executed, adding subtle decorative interest while emphasizing the table’s refined Regency aesthetic.
The table is supported by substantial pedestal bases designed in the form of reeded urns, resting on splayed legs with squared and tapered profiles, each fitted with brass caps and hardware that combine practicality with period charm. This construction not only provides architectural beauty but also ensures stability and balance, even when the table is fully extended with all leaves in place.
Fitted with a traditional extension mechanism, the table comes with eight additional leaves, each approximately 17 inches in length, allowing the table to accommodate large gatherings and formal entertaining. When closed, the table measures approximately 78 inches in length, 60 inches in width, and 30 inches in height, offering a generous surface for everyday dining. With all eight leaves installed, it extends to an impressive overall length 0f 214 inches length, making it ideal for hosting elaborate dinner parties or large family meals. This table exemplifies the craftsmanship of early 19th-century English furniture, combining functional design with elegance, in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use. -
