An Bronze Poudrier Box by Line Vautrin

Description
A circular bronze compact box (poudrier) entitled " Le Marchand de Ballons" (the balloon seller) by Parisian art jeweler Line Vautrin (1913-1997). circa 1945-1946. This lovely piece exemplifies the work of the free-spirited artist. It features a slightly intentionally irregular round body that gives the piece a playful mood. The cover showcases a cast character "Le Marchand" holding a bouquet of balloons, which were enameled in blue. A circle of children surrounds the balloon seller in high relief cast. The box opens to reveal a gilt interior. The mirror is now missing and an old sticker indicates the origin of the piece. The base is branded with "Line Vautrin".
