Description
A silvered bronze poudrier box "Ammonite" by French Parisian art jeweler Line Vautrin (1913-1997).
In the 1940s, Line Vautrin designed a series that was inspired by the shape of nautilus and ammonites. Finished in both gilt and silvered surface, they include poudrier box and ashtrays. They remain as one of the most minimalistic series in her repertoire. This box features a textured silvered surface with radiating lines that closely resembles the appearance of ammonite fossil. Relatively large in scale, it is visually striking for its simplicity and beauty. No mirror inside, just the raw surface remain. Signed on the base.
