Description
This ceramic and fiber sculpture is part of a rare group of Stewart's work that explored the emotional possibilities of the doll form. Usually known for her hyper detailed ceramic depictions of slightly larger than life animals, this work expresses similar uncanny emotional power that mark Lizbeth Stewart as one of the most gifted ceramic sculptors of the American Studio Craft Movement. She often employed mysterious combinations of items and ideas, as is evident here, with a monkey figure emblazoned with a carefully embroidered baseball insignia.
