Description
Excellent bronze sculpture of a male athlete by Marcel Debut (1865-1933). Sculptor and painter, Debut was son of well known French sculptor Jean Didier Debut. He was a member of Society of French Artists where he received an honorable mention in 1895 and he regularly exhibited at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris (Paris Salon) from 1883 until the outbreak of WWI. He was known for his wonderful Orientalist works during the last quarter of 19th Century. This work is a rare example of Debut’s modern style. Signed at base.
