Description
Rare Buccellati Italy Silver Sculpture of the Three Wise Monkeys
A remarkable Buccellati sterling silver sculpture of the iconic Three Wise Monkeys—“See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil”—finely hand-chased in the maison’s signature furry technique to capture the lifelike texture of each figure’s fur. Executed with extraordinary detail, the trio is whimsically posed yet masterfully rendered, embodying both playfulness and sophistication.
The silver monkeys are mounted on a richly figured petrified wood base, creating a striking contrast between the shimmering precious metal and the organic stone, elevating the work into a true objet d’art.
The Three Wise Monkeys motif, with roots in Japanese and Buddhist tradition, conveys a timeless moral message of wisdom, restraint, and virtue. In Buccellati’s hands, this allegorical theme is reimagined with luxurious artistry, blending symbolism with impeccable Italian craftsmanship.
A rare and collectible sculpture, this piece exemplifies Buccellati’s genius for transforming silver into lifelike form while infusing it with cultural meaning. Both a conversation piece and a work of art, it makes an exceptional addition to any collection of fine Buccellati silver or symbolic decorative arts.
