“Standing Horse” Bronze Sculpture by Mary La BoyTeaux & Roman Bronze Works
-
Description
A fine modernist Equestrian study by Mary Stewart La BoyTeaux, the bronze sculpture was executed using the lost-wax method at the Roman Bronze Works foundry in New York and is situated over an original black slate base. The corner of the base is crisply signed "M. S. La BoyTeaux 27", suggesting it was modeled in 1927, though little information about La BoyTeaux's work is public record. It is an interesting study, strict and austere, anatomically appropriate and cast with Roman Bronze Works' typical excellence. It remains well cared for an in excellent original condition.
