Description
Original signed box. About the artist: Nakashima Katsunori (1963-2014) was born in Seto City, near the industrial city of Nagoya. He graduated from the Aichi prefectural School of Ceramics in 1983, and shortly thereafter moved to Mexico, where he taught at Toluca. He returned to Japan five years later to work with Koie Ryoji in the town of Shitara, where he absorbed many of his mentor’s techniques before moving back to Seto City. His first solo exhibition was held in 1992, and thereafter consistently exhibited in venues throughout Japan. He moved back to Seto City in 1994, to build his own kiln. From 2000 to 2006 his works were selected for display in Australia, Korea and Europe. In 2009 he returned to Shitara to fire at a kiln owned by Suzuki Goro. He passed away very unexpectedly in 2014.
