Description
This vase from the 1920s was decorated by Sadie Irvine and features an unusual decoration of fruit as opposed to the flora typically seen in Newcomb’s pottery from this period.

In addition, the vase features an unusual glaze coloration, with a background transitioning from purpleish blue near the base to more pink near the shoulder, beneath the carved decoration of round oranges in shades of orange-yellow surrounded by bladelike green leaves.

The underside of this vase features inscriptions including firm’s mark and date code in addition to the artist’s cipher.
