RYDER ANTIQUES OFFERS SWEDISH AND FRENCH ORIGINAL PAINTED COUNTRY FURNITURE AND FOLK ART. WE EMPHASIZE THE EMPIRE PERIODS AND EARLIER.
FRENCH ALSATIAN BOX
17TH CENTURY FRENCH ALSATIAN BOX EXCEPTIONALLY DECORATED WITH AN ARRAY OF COLORFUL FLOWERS. THESE BOXES WERE USUALLY GIVEN AS GIFTS FROM A HUSBAND TO HIS WIFE. IT ALLOWED HER TO STORE HER PERSONAL ITEMS IN A SAFE PLACE. HAS A WORKING LOCK AND KEY ORIGINAL TO THE BOX. DECORATED ALL AROUND EXCEPT THE TOP WHERE THERE IS WEAR FROM USAGE. ITEMS LIKE THIS CAN BE FOUND IN THE ALSATIAN IN STRASBOURG. THE BOX HAS A PRESENCE THAT YOU WOULD THINK CAME FROM THE MEDIEVAL PERIODS.
