Exuding timeless elegance and inspired by Neoclassical design, this remarkable pair of vases showcases the exquisite allure of porphyry.
The intricately turned and gadrooned bodies naturally guide the viewer’s attention to the flared necks, which are crowned by ornate ormolu lids. These lids, bordered with acanthus-leaf motifs, are embellished with delicate floral garlands and topped by a striking pinecone finial. Gracefully arching from the porphyry necks, the twin handles are artfully shaped like acanthus leaves, reinforcing the organic themes found throughout the design.
Separating the stepped porphyry base from the main body, finely crafted ormolu mounts echo the acanthus leaf motif, paired with a simpler decorative band for balance. The circular ormolu bases are elevated by four geometric feet, while luxurious ormolu ribbons and draped ornamentation above them enhance the majestic presence of these antiques.
