Pair Tall Chinese Export Phoenix (Ho-Ho) Birds
-
Description
This is a wonderful pair of Chinese Export porcelain Phoenix Birds that dates to the late Ching Period. These birds are more commonly found decorated in brilliant greens and other colors and it is refreshing to find this pair in a more refined decoration composed of blanc de chine and a pale celedon and pale brown. In Chinese Culture, The phoenix represents power sent from the heavens to the Empress. If a phoenix was used to decorate a house it symbolized that loyalty and honesty of the people that lived there. Both birds are in very good condition and are stamped on the bottoms.
