Description
This refined French Art Deco vase was designed by Paul Milet and produced in the Sèvres tradition during the 1920s, a period when ceramic artistry and architectural metalwork were increasingly combined to create sculptural decorative objects of great presence. The elegant ovoid body is finished in a richly modulated amber and ochre glaze, with subtle tonal movement across the surface that enhances the sense of depth and curvature. The form is visually grounded by its balanced proportions, allowing the surface color to become an integral part of the overall composition rather than mere ornament.
Original patinated metal mounts encircle and frame the burgundy ceramic body, featuring stylized vertical strapping, a defined collar at the neck, and gracefully arched handles that create a strong and confident Art Deco silhouette. The interior bears the impressed Sèvres NID mark, accompanied by original paper labels reading "Fabrication Française," which confirms French manufacture and period authenticity. This vase exemplifies the sophisticated dialogue between ceramic and metal disciplines that characterized the finest French decorative arts of the interwar period, offering a sculptural presence that is both architectural and refined. - More Information
