Pre-Columbian Ceramic Sican Bird Vessel TL Tested

$ 3,800
  • Description
    A pre-Columbian ceramic bottle in the shape of a bird from Northern Coast of Peru likely Sican Culture that flourished from 8th to 14th century. The avian vessel features a hollow body with a long sprout on its back that connects the head with an arched handle. The molded surface was painted with an ochre color slip and still retains most of the color. The vessel was dated a thermoluminescent test in 1992 performed by Laboratory Ralf Kotalla in Germany. The report indicates the age of the bottle is around 12th century. (Last firing 950 years +/-20%). This is consistent with the style of the Sican pottery with long and straight sprout and arched flat handle.
    The original files of the TL test will be included with the piece to the buyer.
