Qajar Period Persian Ceramic Vase with Figural Decoration, circa 1820

$ 4,250
  • Description
    A finely painted Persian ceramic vase from the Qajar period, dating to circa 1820. Of elegant baluster form, the surface is richly decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and green on a creamy ground, centred by a lyrical figural scene of a courtly figure amidst flowering branches and a bird in flight.

    The decoration reflects the distinctive narrative quality of Qajar ceramic production, where earlier Persian artistic traditions are reinterpreted with a freer, more expressive hand. The composition wraps fluidly around the vessel, reading almost as a continuous painted scene across the curved surface.

    The glaze displays gentle craquelure and surface variation consistent with its early 19th-century origin.

    A particularly decorative and characterful example, combining strong visual presence with an evocative sense of narrative, well suited as a focal object within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
