Description
Ralph Wood Staffordshire Pottery pearlware figure with a religious theme which features a standing figure of Saint Phillip, stood on a marbleised base. The piece is titled, 'St Phillip' . Flatback, decorated mainly to the front. This piece represents Saint Philip the Apostle was one of Jesus’ earliest followers, known for bringing others—like Nathanael—to Christ and for his role in several key Gospel moments. Tradition holds that he preached in Asia Minor after the Resurrection and was eventually martyred at Hierapolis.
