Description
A therapeutic handmade toy hippopotamus by German designer Renate Müller. It is made of stuffed burlap with blue and red leather details.
Renate Müller (born 1945) studied at the Sonneberg Polytechnic for Toy Design, where she learned about toy animals that could be used therapeutically for children with a physical or mental disability. Inspired by this, se began to create brightly colored toy animals, which were debuted at the 1967 Leipzig Trade Fair. -
