Robert Helsmoortel Bronze Sculpture, Abstract, Biomorphic, Signed. Small scale table sculpture with an appealing patina and organic form. Initialed "RH" and numbered 1/9 at the base. Additionally stamped with a foundry mark: JM and mounted on a square black lacquered base.

Robert Helsmoortel 1922 - 2007. Antwerp, Belgium. A. James Speyer, Modernist architect and one time curator of the Art Institute of Chicago, considered him to be "among the fine European sculptors of his generation and probably the outstanding Belgian". His sculptures and painting can be found in several museum, corporate, and private collections. His secondary market works have been sold through Christies and Rago Arts and Auction Center.
