Modernist Ice Cast Patinated Bronze Vase with Wax Finish by Steven Haulenbeek
-
Description
This gorgeous modernist ice cast vase was realized by the contemporary artist Steven Haulenbeek in 2017. This object represents one of the few contemporary pieces that we carry and for good reason. Influenced by the designs of the past- most notably those of Nelson, Saarinen and Bertoia- it embodies the old world craftsmanship and fastidious attention to detail that we prize. The piece belongs to the artist's “Ice-Cast Bronze” series, which utilizes the subzero temperatures of Chicago's winter environment to finish objects in cast bronze. The vase offers an organic form with sinuously curved exterior with an abundance of raised horizontal striations, suggestive of molten metal. With its beautiful craftsmanship and organic modernist aesthetic, this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid-Century Modern to contemporary. The piece bears the significant weight that one would expect from a luxury object of this quality. It is in excellent condition. Signed "Haulenbeek" on the bottom with the artist's proprietary stamp.
